The Toyota 2000GT was Japan's first attempt at a full-fledged supercar. With a limited production run from 1967 to 1970 and just 351 units made, you'd be hard pressed to find one, let alone two in two weeks on ONE auction site. But that's precisely what BringATrailer has managed to do.
This particular 2000GT was sold new in Mozambique, with a stint with a South African collector in the 70s, eventually making its way into Costa Rica in the 80s, before being restored by Restauraciones Clásicas, and later sold on BaT in 2016. That's quite a history for a little Toyota.
This 2000GT is a 1967 model and is painted in Solar Red, and I happen to think it looks absolutely glorious. It's powered by a 2L I6 paired with a 5-speed manual making 148 horsepower, and stands just 46 inches at its highest point. The pop up headlights are absolutely fantastic, and the ground-up restoration on this example makes it particularly appealing.
The interior is full of black vinyl, and wood all over. The wood steering wheel paired with the wood shifter makes it look fit for only the most esteemed driver.
If you're interested in bidding on this 2000GT, you can visit the auction page here, although you're going to have to pony up lots of cash for this piece of automotive history. The current bid is $550,000 with 7 days left to bid.

It had a life in the UK too, solely judging by the plate. The UK GOV site states it was registered with the DVLA in 2014, so it appears to keep on being sold from collector to collector! Wonder where it's going next...?
The listing states it was purchased by a UK collector before being sold on BaT in 2016, although the auction was in Texas which was a little confusinf
