These guys turned their 350Z into a bonkers Porsche 935 tribute

Surely this is one of the most impressive 'tribute' kits ever seen?

We've all seen numerous 'tribute' kits in our time here on DRIVETRIBE, with varying degrees of success from 'passable' to 'what on earth were they thinking?' - this may just be the best one I've ever seen though.

Built upon a Nissan 350z, this crazy tribute to the iconic Porsche 935 'flatnose' race cars of the 1980s actually looks incredible, and carefully treads the line between 'tribute' and 'copycat' perfectly; Whilst still very clearly a 350z, the styling and inspiration of the 935 is plain to see, and the workmanship looks to be of a very high standard indeed

Dubbed the '935Z' this is the project of Ashiru Ito in Japan, combining elements of the modern 935 track-only special with the boxy 80s styling of the original 935 which was infamously known as 'Moby Dick' due to its 'whale tail' spoiler.

This is no half-hearted attempt at a tribute though, make no mistake about it. Everything from the front and rear fenders to the bumpers and side skirts were custom made, along with the wheels, all designed to make the '935Z' look aggressive and motorsports-inspired whilst paying tribute to the iconic 935 of the 1980s. Ashiru even has further plans in store for this one-off creation, with plans to extend the hood and widen the rear bumper, presumably to further emulate the incredible presence of the Porsche 935.

Despite the incredible dedication to modifying the exterior of the car, inside and under the hood have been left totally stock, retaining Nissans 3.5 litre V6 engine from the 350z which puts out 306hp and 268 lb/ft of torque. It would certainly be interesting to see a motor swap here, preferably a flat-six with a ridiculous turbo to emulate the sound of the original 935... I guess we'll have to wait and see what Ashiru has in store after the aforementioned bodywork.

  • That is a very beautiful tribute to the most successful porsche racecar of 80s.

  • It looks like something that someone from the Blacklist 15 in the original Need for Speed: Most Wanted might run.

  • Yes, they made the front, but they should also give the rear end the similar treatment as well!
