These retro 70s Formula 1 helmets are just awesome
Our designer Sean Bull has worked his magic to send the current F1 drivers back in time
A driver's helmet is like his signature - it should be unique and instantly recognisable.
Who can forget Ayrton Senna's distinctive yellow design? Or Graham Hill's London Rowing Club-inspired helmet, later adopted by his son Damon?
With all the teams running cars that are identical in looks, the helmet poking out of the cockpit is really the only way to tell who is driving which car.
Our design genius Sean Bull decided to take the helmets used by the current field of drivers and see what they would look like if they were racing in the 1970s.
He has used both the helmet shape and style as well as the traditional layouts and designs of the time. And we think they look incredible...

What’s Massa’s helmet doing there?
Vettelle most definitely is simple and beautiful all set on the nappy shell. It is so much more than protective gear. It is a masterpiece of true art.
