Think Laser 917s are lame? Think again
One Florida man's build stands head and shoulders above the rest.
I am a member of many different car groups on Facebook. One build that struck me was Daytona Beach, Florida resident Chris Morrell's custom 911 powered Laser 917 in the "hippie" 917 color scheme.
Mr. Morrell's starting point.
The Laser 917 is a rakishly styled, very Malaise Era interpretation of a Porsche 917K, sized for a VW Beetle pan. Since the Race Car Replicas 917 kit is expensive and not street legal without a lot of work, many #forgottenfiberglass buffs, Porschephiles, and VW buffs have turned to the Laser 917 as a fun project that's different from all the rest.

Yep, that's an authentic Porsche 911 flat six, with carburetors, for the proper grunt and sound.
Rarely do you see a fiberglass kit in authentic race colors.
The build is far from complete, but from the looks of things, this is gonna be a build for the ages.
