This 2006 Porsche Cayenne Turbo can handle just about anything
Looking for a post-apocalyptic vehicle with some style? This may be just the ticket
The first-generation Porsche Cayenne has never enjoyed the popularity that later models have. Perhaps it is the unusual styling, or perhaps it was simply a case of being too early - in the same way that the Audi A2 was hated at launch, but now highly regarded. Either way, it has been credited as 'the car that saved Porsche' so it certainly served its purpose.
Bring A Trailer
Well, this particular Cayenne may change your opinion, as it looks ready to tackle just about anything that you throw at it. What's more, this wasn't even a home-made project, it was in fact modified by Porsche of Monterey themselves!
Having sold for just over $40,000 on Bring A Trailer, that may seem steep for a first-gen Cayenne even with a clean report and California title, but this is a true one-off build.
Painted in Marine Blue Metallic, the Cayenne is running on 18" wheels wrapped in BFG All-Terrain T/A KO2 tires, sitting atop a 2" lift kit. Thankfully, the front brakes and upper control arms are also new, and likely strengthened to handle the new chassis dynamics.
It is also well-equipped for longer journeys, with a hard shell Tepui Hybox tent, front skid plate, Hella-brand auxiliary lighting, and more bespoke off-road equipment to make this 'super' SUV the ideal long-distance, post-apocalyptic vehicle of choice.
It also has plenty of grunt - being the Turbo S model, it has a 4.5l, twin-turbo V8 under the hood, putting out 514hp and 530 lb/ft of torque, with power going to all four corners via a six-speed Tiptronic transmission.
