This 2013 Hyundai has already travelled 1 million miles

If it carries on at this rate, the Elantra will have done 2 million miles in a decade

This may look very much like the ordinary Hyundai Elantra that became available five years ago, but you'd be hard pressed to find one which has travelled more miles in that half-decade.

Remarkably, the 1,000,000 miles this car has racked up were all completed on the same drivetrain; and the car doesn't look battered and bruised as you might expect.

It's clearly been looked after very lovingly by its owner, Farrah Haines, a delivery driver who loves being behind the wheel and completes on average around 200,000 miles each year.

There's a certain satisfaction you get when your odometer clicks over to a nice round number, so you can imagine Haines' disappointment when she found out that her milestone wouldn't be displayed on the dash.

Digital odometers simply don't have the space for seven digits, so Hyundai saved the day by creating an exclusive badge - "The Million Mile Emblem" - to mark the achievement.

If she keeps going at this rate, Haines will have racked up 2 million miles in a decade.

Think of that poor powertrain...

What's the highest mileage you've ever had in a car?

  • I have a customer with a 1996 Toyota Land Cruiser with currently 1200000kms and I’ve serviced it since 80000kms. Just did it’s twelve cambelt, you would be absolutely amazed at what I haven’t done to it like rocker cover never removed, never serviced injectors or injector pump, a job I’ve done on cruisers with a million less kms.

  • a schoolmate bought a bmw 3 with 500000km on the clock and it was only about 5 years... very good price though and the car was perfectly fine... autobahn kms don’t seem to hurt that bad if you take care of your machine
