This $300,000 coachbuilt Range Rover is the pinnacle of SUVs
You might remember not that long ago that Jaguar Land Rover's SV division revealed that there were plans to build a Range Rover SV Coupe. This ultra-luxury 3 door SUV would have been the absolute pinnacle of cushy, comfy SUV luxury, whilst still being able to cut the mustard off the beaten track like any Land Rover or Range Rover should. Unfortunately, as amazing as the final product would have been, the SV Coupe was scrapped last year before a single car was even produced. The Dutch designer Niels van Roij, however, had other ideas, and got to work on creating his own coachbuilt version of an ultra modern, ultra luxurious 3 door Range Rover.
The Adventum Coupe is the final result of his efforts. Whilst it's based on an off the shelf standard production Range Rover, all the body panels (which are made from hand beaten aluminium, because this is a properly coachbuilt car) from the A to the C pillar are different so that van Roij could achieve the 3 door conversion he wanted. Straight away it's hard not to notice how well-designed this big brute of a luxury coupe is. It's actually more visually appealing than the original SV Coupe was! The conversion looks so seamless, in fact, that if you replaced the coachbuilder's badges at the rear and on the side skirts with convetional Range Rover badges, you probably would think this had come straight out of JLR's design house.
The example Niels van Roij Design decided to show to the press is in arctic white with a bright red interior, complete with yacht-style wooden decking all over the car's interior floors, and I honestly can't think of a more striking specification for this car's debut. It really feels like an ultra-premium product. It's definitely something for the most elite of the elite to run around their country estates on the weekend. I could definitely imagine some shotguns being carried around in that teak-decked boot area!
Just to cement in the luxurious statement the car is creating, the rear seat passengers get two fully adjustable captains' chairs with all the comfort and entertainment options you could think of. Whilst it may be a 3 door, that rear compartment is definitely big more that enough for two 6 foot tall adults. It seems like this Range Rover coupe is a car you'd want to be driven in as much as drive...
It's also worth mentioning that, as these are bespoke vehicles from a coachbuilder, the possibilities for customisation are absolutely limitless. Van Roij has stated that they create the exterior and interior look of each car in "a co-design process with the future owner" and that "we make it so personal that even the favorite pinstripe from the owner's suit can be incorporated into the interior." That's some serious levels of customisation right there, possibly even beyond the levels you'd expect to find from Bentley's Mulliner programme!
Each Adventum Coupe takes around a minimum of 6 months to build (this obviously varies depending on the individual specification of the customer, as these are truly bespoke vehicles) and the price is somewhere in the region of $300,000, with a $55,000 deposit. Whilst some may absolutely balk at a Range Rover costing that much money, you're paying for a totally bespoke vehicle that's arguably at the absolute pinnacle of the SUV. The Range Rover birthed the concept of the SUV and, thanks to awesome custom creations like these, it's going to continue to reign as the king of the SUV segment.
