This 6x6, 1,200-hp Hennessey Mammoth is powered by a Hellephant V8
It sounds mastodontic 🐘
This is the Hennessey Mammoth, based on the Ram 1500 TRX, and the first thing you need to know is the engine that powers it is a specially tuned version of the Hellephant crate engine. You couldn't make it up.
Irony and wordplay aside, this is a rather spectacular supercharged 7.0-liter V8 that produces 1,000 hp in its standard form. However, Hennessey being Hennessey, they thought it wasn't enough and gave it 200 extra hp just for good measure. And two extra wheels. This is their second 6-wheeler truck this year after the Goliath, which was introduced a few months ago.
We obviously have to address to "hellephant" (sorry) in the room here because the truck was also given a 6x6 conversion, it now comes with six-wheel drive, and a new made-to-measure bed and enormous wheel openings, along with bigger bumpers, upgraded off-road suspension and new LED lights. The interior can also be customized.
John Hennessey is very clear and unapologetic about the truck (that's why we love him, after all) and he said that a "6x6 [truck] 1,200 hp Hellephant motor is just a completely ridiculous idea, which is exactly why we are doing this". Production is limited to three units only with pricing starting at $500,000 including the base Ram 1500 TRX.
