If you wish to calculate a car’s bang-for-your-buck rating, all you have to do is take the price, and divide it by the horsepower. By doing this, you’ll learn exactly how much each individual horsepower is costing you. The lower the number, the more bang you’re getting for your buck. And as far as the internet thinks, the king of bang-for-your-buck cars is the Dodge Challenger Hellcat Redeye.

At $71,350, the 797bhp Redeye costs $89.52 per horsepower. While many may consider it - or it’s 707 horsepower Hellcat sibling - to be the greatest bang-for-your-buck car out there, in truth, there’s one car that absolutely eclipses the pair of them. Providing you live in Ohio.

Lebanon Ford in Ohio is a dealership that offers some rather tasty options for buyers - such as inexpensive performance enhancing components. As of right now, they currently offer buyers of the brand new Ford Mustang GT the option to equip it with two turbochargers, elevating power from 460 to 800bhp. Given that the price of the standard 460 horsepower car is $35,355, you would imagine giving it another Focus RS’s worth of power would see the price go through the roof. The thing is though, the modifications bring the total price of the whole car up to just $39,995. Yes, you did read that correctly!

Referring back to the bang-for-your-buck rating, the Mustang LFP Hellion (to give it its official title) costs just $49.99 per horsepower, and I can’t think of another car that can get close to that.

While it’s very true that power can corrupt, I still find it fascinating that you can literally walk into a showroom right now and buy a car with more power than a Ferrari 812 Superfast, Pagani Huayra BC, or McLaren Senna for less than $40,000 (£30,700). While the best offer is exclusive to people buying a brand new Mustang, those who currently have a standard 2018 or 2019 Mustang in their possession can also buy the Twin-Turbo package from Lebanon Ford for just $6,395 (£4,700). If you’re a power-hungry lunatic, that’s a very tempting prospect.
