When you have a handyman's soul and a bit of imagination, it is possible to create real wonders that are perfectly useless but extremely interesting! The American youtuber The Q mixes these two talents to invent anything and everything for us. Today, the automotive world will meet the cycling world.

Instead of having normal and obviously boring bicycle wheels, why not try to replace them with Formula 1 tires? That's what The Q did, and to achieve a remarkable result, a lot of modifications had to be made.

Starting from a simple bike frame, the handyman added Pirelli P Zero tires mounted on OZ rims. Their width is such that the rolling resistance has been drastically increased. The Q has therefore added a second chain to help the user and reduce effort.

The finished vehicle is surprising. While it's a real eye-catcher, it's still much more expensive than a standard bike, especially if one of the tires were to go flat. In terms of handling, it's not much better since the weight has been dramatically increased.

  • when it rains does he switch to inters or during a longer/shorter ride does he switch to harder/softer compounds?

  • Thought that perelli didnt allow tires to go anywhere besides the lab

    • While this true, I do believe Pirelli develops new compounds for their tires constantly, so even if older compound tire were to get out of the lab, Pirelli is already ten steps ahead with newer tires. I THINK, so take that with a grain of salt

    • Ah

  • When I asked for a fatbike, I didn't mean it to be THAT fat. That said, works fine, I reckon. Still think it'd be nice to have full suspension (but that'd be expensive to build).

  • I'm pretty sure the second chain is there mainly for offset and does nothing to reduce the effort, except by reducing the gear ratio a little bit, but gears were already there anyway

  • Kind of cool idea with terrible execution. Could they have found a cheaper, shittier bicycle to build this around? If you set out to build a joke do so with all the care in the world. Not garbage. Don't add scads of heavy steel to the build. The wheels are already stupid heavy.
