First off, restomoding is one of the biggest things to come out of the first two decades of the 2000s. If you're not sure what a restomod is, allow me to explain: it's when you take an older vehicle and give it all the modern amenities of a new car in that old car shell and aesthetic. It's an extremely cool thing to see and be around.

TV star Jay Leno is no stranger to this realm as he has many restomods himself. And on his fantastic YouTube channel, he's showcasing one of the coolest restomod trucks I've ever seen. Check it out, it's worth the watch.

The Idaho-based Rtech Fabrications is responsible for this glorious bohemoth. It's a powder blue 66 Chevy truck with a massive lift kit, is over 8300 pounds, has a Cummins turbo diesel engine, and is stretched to 175 inches in length to make room for the crew cab design (as Chevy.

Honestly, I love this thing and I'm not even a truck guy. What about you?

  • Very nice trucks.........I'd know, as I live only about 30 miles from the guys that build them. I've seen the yellow one before at a show, and it's a very nice piece of work. To be quite honest, though, I'll stick with Buford.......the one that I built....a 1979 F250 Ranger XLT Supercab Trailer Special (restomod)....it's wheelbase is 155" from the factory, and I didn't have to stretch a thing. It's not a diesel, but I did build a stroked 400 (now 434 ci), that produces around 525hp, and 560tq with a mellow idle, and good vacuum. It's also been roller retrofitted, and machined for 4-bolt main caps for strength. I added fuel injection about two years ago for reliability (maybe economy too, but not a priority), as well as a host of other upgrades. So, while I appreciate those trucks, I'm kind of attached to my own.....actually, there's enough of my blood in that truck to sustain a DNA test for ownership.

  • Love it! I’d never haul anything in it but I love it!

  • I don’t really get the semi-truck wheels on a pickup thing that’s going around. You’re not going to haul 30 tons of trailer with it, why would you want all that unnecessary unsprung and rotating mass?

  • Very impressive attention to detail. I like how the side trim on the doors are done.

  • If it were mine I would attempt a modern coat of paint on the old shell as well, like a nice metallic gray. Just to make people think it’s a brand new one.
