This DeLorean off-roader is ready for a zombie apocalypse

Or the driver could just travel to a point in time when there wasn't a zombie apocalypse going on...

2021 marks 40 years since DeLorean began, so what better way to celebrate that than creating the ultimate version of a DMC-12.

This epic render was created by @bradbuilds on Instagram and it is what we imagine a DeLorean to look like in a zombie apocalypse or a Mad Max movie. If you couldn't tell already, this particular DeLorean was inspired by the one seen in Back To The Future – the film that put DeLorean on the map.

To make it look more like the car out of the movies, @bradbuilds made sure to add the obligatory piping around the car flux capacitor to the back. This render also has bits found in Part 2 of the movie franchise which is a neat touch.

But what we're really here to see is what else has been done to this magnificent thing. The creator has added a huge suspension lift and chunky tyres to give it the ultimate off-road look.

In fact, when you take a step back and look at it in all its stainless steel glory, it would actually make a good off-road vehicle, would it not? Even its departure angle doesn't look all that bad for a car of this nature.

Should someone actually make this?

  • Seeing two solid axles, i was super confused where the engine and trans were supposed to be. Then I read it's a render. A damn good one, because it looked real (heavily filtered) to me at first.

    • I was thinking the same Denny! Would have to be a longitudinal installation with the transmission pointing forward, like a monster truck. Was wondering because it looked like a Ford differential cover for a 9”, but on a housing for an 8.8”…
