This E-Type drifting around a track makes me feel a little uncomfortable

This just doesn't seem right

The Jaguar E-Type is up there as the most quintessential of British classics and has become a cornerstone of national pride. It's well known that Enzo Ferrari coveted the Malcolm Sayer design and that it blew the car industry to smithereens when revealed at the 1961 Geneva Motor Show. The Series 1 took all of the talent from the D-Type racing car's monocoque chassis which helped produce the balanced, straight-six sportscar that would go on to define the 1960s.

Sir William Lyons apparently wasn't a fan of the E-Type when it was first conceptualised but there's no way he could have imagined how big a hit it would have been. An application he also certainly wouldn't have foreseen for the car would have been as an in-game drift car. But, thanks to Gran Turismo, that wild thought has become a reality. Someone (after a few too many tequilas) has decided to take a Jaguar E-Type sideways the entire way around a simulated circuit, showing impressive car control and displaying the Jag's talent as the unlikeliest of drift machines.

It may not be entirely realistic - I'm not sure an E-Type has the chassis to perform such antics - but this guy definitely knows how to transition the car in-game. It may be slightly sinful and it isn't exactly in-keeping with Jaguar tradition but it's still quite mesmerising to watch:

What is the most unlikely vehicle that you've seen drifting? Are you okay with the torture this poor pixelated E-Type is being put through? Comment with your thoughts below!

  • Yes. It's awesome. Not something you should do with a real e-type. But definitely something you should want to see done.
