This Electric Drivetrain Will Keep Classic 911s On The Road Forever
With batteries from a Tesla Roadster and two electric motors, can an electric 911 SC keep classic 911s on the road forever?
Porsche purists have been debating air-cooled vs. water-cooled for my entire lifetime but today a third choice has entered the mix, electrification. The team over at Electric Classic Cars in the UK have created a fully electric 911SC that promises to keep classic 911s on the road for the foreseeable future.
It's like a singer 911 only much quieter. With a full restoration this 1979 911SC found new life in the hands of a forward thinking collector. Rather than rebuilding the tired 3.2-liter flat-6, the owner replace the engine for electric motors and batteries out of a Tesla Roadster. The result is an all electric 911 the blends the balance and style of classic 911s with the brawn of modern electric engines.
The fully electric 911 Targa car travel for 200miles on a single charge thanks to 54kwh battery pack of Tesla Roadster batteries. The greater power density of today's electric car batteries maeans interior space was not sacrificed for range. In addition to the batteries this 911 has two electric motors. This means this is the first classic 911 with a actual trunk.
The future may be quieter but if electric drivetrains can keep classic cars like this 911 on the road, I'm all for it.

OMG! This is like cutting off your dick and "installing" a dildo!! Nooooooo!!!! :))
The best part, I think, is putting all that weight on the front wheels where it belongs, and as a result - it is far less likely to kill you !
*how to f*ck up a briliant car..
Who wants a car forever anyway ? No car of metal, rubber, plastic, and fibres in the cloth will ever last "forever" and you might as well re-build it in a different material, but to put anything in the "boot" would make it absolutely useless. Supid idea that !
No. Just no. Put a real engine back in the thing
