This incredible 2JZ is a work of art & I don't know whether to love or hate it.
As many of you may or may not know, I have a bit of a thing for the 2JZ engine. I love the fact that over-engineered the living hell out of the engine. That is what makes it such a favorite for swaps, tuners, etc. The 2JZ is capable of some serious horsepower and yet that is not why we are featuring this particular 2J. No, this 2JZ is getting some play because of the insane attention to detail from a purely artistic perspective. I like to think the Lannisters would choose this 2JZ if they knew of internal combustion.
Our Project Lexus Features a slightly less fancy 2JZ.
There is absolutely no denying the fact that this took one master craftsman countless hours and immense skill to create. It is, with out any question a work of art. The attention to detail is insane, right down to the Rolex watch face where one would usually expect to see an oil cap. This beautiful and there in lies the problem. What car would you put this in? Would you even drive a car with this in the engine bay?
It is mechanical yet it focuses on art. That is what I have a difficult time wrapping my head around. I'm not an art person, never have been, so if you are going to make art out of a fully functional piece of engineering I don't know how to process that. I'd never want to drive a car with this engine in it for the fear of ruining the hard work and time that went into creating it. If you can't drive it what is the point? I have always preferred form following function. I'd much rather the engine built with countless hours that serves an engine's purpose.
Then again, I could be wrong. Let me know what you think in the comments!
