So, I was browsing through cars that are currently up for sale in the UK and I came across this. a 1957 Lotus Eleven LeMans!

This very car was built in 1957 by the Lotus team to compete in single-seater LeMans races. Apparently it was ordered with the rare, original FWB 1,460cc factory engine of which they only made two originals and it had an MG gearbox and twin fuel tanks also.

A quick bit of history and stats

The Lotus Eleven was built from 1956 to 1958 and was designed by founder Colin Chapman and was married to a beautiful, sleek body designed by automotive engineer Frank Costin. It was fitted with multiple different engines over time including a Coventry-Climax FWA SOHC I4 (1098 cc) and a Ford I4 (1172 cc). It was front-engined, rear-wheel-drive and came with a 4-speed manual gearbox.

The Eleven was primarily designed to take part in the 1100cc class where it was most successful in the late 1950s although this car for sale took part in races such as the Milli Miglia in the 90s and the Coppa d'Oro delle Dolomiti too.

This classic is currently for sale on Cars and Classic for £240,000!

Tell me what you thought about this, I was trying something new writing about this car. 👇
