Say Hello to this 1200 horsepower, electric Audi RS3
The German engineering firm Schaeffler fitted Audi RS3 with 4 Formula E electric motors with 296 horsepower each for a total power output of 1184 horsepower. The engines come from the ABT Schaeffler FE01 car from the 16/17 formula E season which placed 2nd in the Formula E championship.
But it's not all about power, the 4 engines are used with 2 transmissions with straight cut-gears, one on each axle, to create a 'twin-axle' setup, allowing for 'selective wheel drive' (torque vectoring). The energy comes from 2 batteries with combined energy of 65kWh, giving it a range of... well the range isn't disclosed, but who cares in this case?

The car is capable of going from 0-200 km/h in under 7 seconds, not much else is said about the car right now as it's mostly a research and promo project for the company behind it.
Simon Opel, Director Special Projects Motorsports at Schaeffler, commented:
“For Schaeffler, this vehicle is a test laboratory on wheels thanks to its free scaling options for the drive power. We are currently testing and developing our own driving dynamics control system, which is based on physical vehicle and wheel modeling. We have been learning a lot especially in the area of software-based driving dynamics control systems”
Does this get you excited for the future of electric motorsports ?
