This is Aston Martin's new Formula 1 car
It's truly awesome to see this marque in the Formula 1 line-up for 2021
It is arguably the most anticipated F1 car launch of the year, and I think it's fair to say Aston Martin has pulled a blinder with its livery. This is the Aston Martin AMR21 and it's here to be the best-looking car on the grid in 2021.
Green mixed with Magenta... we'll have it
Of course, being an Aston, it brings a very British shade of green back to F1, like Caterham and Jaguar before it. I personally think they could have gone darker (more along the lines of the Bentley Speed 8) but the Magenta stripe creates a nice contrast and will make the car stand out like the pink Racing Point livery before it.
Can this car take it to the Red Bulls this year? It already has them beaten in the looks department.
If my maths is correct, it has been 61 years since the marque last raced in Formula 1 with the DBR5. Since then we've seen the brand concentrate mostly on GT racing with success at Le Mans, and let's not forget the screaming AMR1-2 prototype and the beautiful DBR9 GT1 project.
We reckon the car could have looked even prettier if it had gone for the same darker green as the factory DBR9s
The official name of the team is Aston Martin Cognizant Formula One, taking the place of Racing Point and carrying over Lance Stroll from last year's line-up, while adding four-time world champion Sebastian Vettel to the mix.
Vettel may well have swapped his Ferrari for a much more capable package in the Aston
Like in its road cars, this Aston will sport a Mercedes engine behind the cockpit, the standout powertrain from the F1 field. The car will fire up for the first time tomorrow, ready for a full testing programme in Bahrain from 12th-14th March.
Hopefully this cockpit will see multiple podium-worthy drives in 2021
