Audi has unveiled its first all electric production model in San Francisco, CA. The e-Tron SUV marks the beginning of an electric chapter for Audi. With major big player such as Porsche tying up with Rimac and Mercedes introducing the EQ brand, Audi has also stayed on its toe to join the revolution.
The five door electric SUV has an essence of everyday practicality with ample boot space and a long range distance on a single charge. The all electric four wheel drive e-Tron is powered by two electric motors which are announced as 'virtually silent' and 'locally CO2 neutral'. It uses the latest state of the art quattro technology which alters the distribution of power to each of the axles depending upon the requirements.
The batteries of e-Tron are also equipped with energy recovering system which helps the batteries to get charged up with every deceleration. This has been achieved with the help of electro hydraulic braking system. The e-Tron is also the first production vehicle in the world to be equipped with digital outside rear view mirrors. With the help of these mirrors, the e-Tron has managed to register a much better aerodynamic efficiency.
The e-Tron as expected is loaded with all the latest high quality media centre, wi-fi hotspot and LTE connectivity. The price for driving around in silence with all the latest technology and being an environmentalist? 79,900 euros for those who are living in Germany.
