This is New Zealand's most popular car
2018 was a good year for car sales, more people bought new cars and got into more debt, yay! 1,646 more new cars were sold compared to the previous year and the stats show that New Zealanders really love their pickups because there were several names in the top 10, read on.
ACTUALLY, THIS WAS NEW ZEALAND'S BEST SELLING CAR FOR 2018-
1- Ford Ranger with 9904 registrations
2- Toyota Hilux with 8086 registrations
3- Toyota Corolla with 7300 registrations
While the Corolla performed incredibly well in a market that seems to favour pickups and SUVs, over half of the Corollas sold were to rental car companies and now that number doesn't seem so impressive anymore.
Toyota is still the nation's favourite manufacturer with 20% of the market share but it looks like Kiwis are slowly falling out of love with the Corolla. Ford came in second with 10% market share and Holden, Mazda and Mitsubishi all received third place with 8% of market share each.
Just to reiterate the popularity of the ute in New Zealand, the Holden Colorado, Mitsubishi Triton, Nissan Navara and the Isuzu D-Max all received top 10 positions in this years list.
