This is officially the greatest Porsche colour of all time
Porsche held a 'colour tournament' on Twitter and Sapphire Blue Metallic won
Porsche held a 'colour tournament' on Twitter, asking fans of the brand to elect the best Porsche colour of all time and Sapphire Blue Metallic won. I'd say that's good news, mostly because I'm a bit tired with these black, grey and white cars. But that's just my 2 cents.
Porsche has had some amazing options throughout its long and varied history but they eventually narrowed it down to 'just' 64 options, divided into four major groups: classic, modern, metallic and non-metallic, because Porsche wanted to include one colour for each category in the 'semi-final'.
Fans voted their favourite colour for each group, ranging from number 16 to number 1 and further developed into seeds, and the final four contenders ended up being Guards Red for Classic colours, Miami Blue for Modern colours, Sapphire Blue for Metallic and Voodoo Blue for Non-metallic. There's a clear pattern here and Porsche fans evidently love blue as three blues reached the top 4 and two more - Night Blue Metallic and Mexico Blue - reached the top 8.
In the semi-final, Miami Blue beat Guards Red with 53.8% of the votes while Sapphire blue beat Voodoo Blue with 57.2% of the votes. Sapphire Blue Metallic defeated Miami Blue in a photo finish in the final, with 51% of nearly 3,000 Twitter votes.
