This is one of the coolest Lamborghinis ever built, and now it's for sale
Way back in ancient times, Lamborghini threw out a car that wasn't up to typical Lamborghini standards. This car was called the Gallardo, and simply put, it is one of the best supercars ever made. In typical Lambo fashion, it did have to look somewhat like a spaceship, however it blended in like headless monkey in a Picasso painting. You bat a second eye at it, but it almost seems kind of normal.
However, also in typical Lambo fashion, it would never in a million years be considered boring. And that's what brings us here. Meet the 2006 Lamborghini Concept S. Also known as one of the most beautiful Lamborghinis ever built.
In order to show how the Gallardo would look in an open-top look, chief Italian maniac and head of design, Luc Donckerwolke, derided to play around with the original sketches of the Gallardo a bit. And what he came up with was staggering.
As I said before, the Concept S was created in order to show the world what an open-top Gallardo Spyder would look like. And as you can see, it isn't what you would call "Ugly." Interesting, yes. But ugly? We might have to let this Lambo slide as a pretty little work of art.
What amazes me most of all is how the cockpit and windshield is split right down the middle. That is there because the design had taken root from the early single-seated race cars from way back in Egyptian times. Dominating any race track, no matter what was at stake.
The first prototypes were sent to shows all over the world, starting with the 2005 Geneva Motor Show. Then, due to immense success at Geneva, Lamborghini made one road-legal working version that magically found itself in private hands.
Powered by the same masterful V10 that was in the traditional Gallardo, it wasn't just a "look at me" type of project. 520 HP and enough torque to reverse gravity was squeezed in, leaving almost no room for added fat.
And so, apart from minor changes on the exterior and interior, this is, relatively speaking, still a Gallardo. That means that it is a supercar, just a rather sexy one. And hopefully all of this is to your liking, because this exact one of a kind prototype is now up for sale.
This isn't the first time we have seen this exact car go for auction at the renowned RM Sotheby's auction block. This car may seem familiar to you as it sold back in 2015 for a staggering $1,320,000! Your average Gallardo of today is only a pesky 15% of that! But then again, this isn't just any average Gallardo. If you still don't understand why, I have nothing left to say to you.
But no matter because later this month, at the RM Sotheby's Abu Dhabi Auction at Yas Marina Circuit, this pesky prototype will be heading for a new home. So bring your purses and suitcases full of cash, because this is simply one of a kind.
