This is Robert Downey Jr.’s awesome 1974 BMW 3.0 CS

Gaze at the beauty of this lovely BMW

Robert Downey Jr. who played the role of a superhero called Iron Man, is usually famous for driving Audis in the Avengers films. In his real life though, Robert Downey Jr. has got a 1974 BMW 3.0 CS.

Speedkore are an American performance group also knows as 'Carbon Fibre' specialists. They have done extensive metal restoration. Speedkore have blessed the car with custom carbon-fibre front air dam, rocker moldings, rear bumper.

The car also has awesome red brick paint, HRE three-piece forged wheels, Bilstein suspension and Brembo brakes.

The attention to detailing that has gone into creating this beautiful interior is mind-boggling. The boffins at Speedkore remolded every single piece of the BMW E9’s dashboard so that they could place a gauge cluster (made by Classic Instruments) and a hidden touchscreen infotainment display. The coffee colored upholstery just add to the beauty of the interior.

There are no rear seats. Instead of them, you will find a luggage deck where Robert can keep his Iron Man suit.

What's more, the car is powered by a 3.6-liter six-cylinder engine which is capable of producing 311 horsepower. Our only issue with the car is that the engine is mated to a ZF four-speed automatic transmission instead of a manual gearbox. Boo

This Speedkore BMW 3.0 CS is a phenomenal car and looks like the perfect modern-classic. We would love to see Robert Downey Jr. collaborate with the American Performance group again for another awesome restmod.

  • The 3.0 CS is exactly what a BMW must look like.

  • I saw one of these dumped outside where I used to work a few years ago. It turned out to belong to the bosses son.

It was in a right mess, lacquer peeling off, paint peeling, rusty, exhaust hanging off, inside looked ropey too.

I asked if he was interested in selling as I was looking for a fix up for a bit of fun.

    Unfortunately he said no.

It sat there and rusted away.

Two years later he asked if I was still interested so I took a look at it.

Engine had seized, body was more rust than metal, it had leaked and the interior was soaking.

It was a proper bag of shit.

    He scrapped it for £50.

    What a mug

    • Unfortunately yes. But then he’d had a very good upbringing, with money thrown at him. Daddy had far, far too much money and no idea how to spend it.

If he’s son said he wanted £50k for a car, his dad would give it to him almost immediately.

  • He really likes his cars.. to think he wanted out (allegedly) of his Iron man suit. Considering what he was paid per movie think of how many cars he could built.
