This is the 2020 Rezvani Tank – the most powerful SUV in the world
The 2020 Rezvani Tank had been teased with a couple of images surfacing a couple of weeks ago and now it is finally here. Set to premiere at the Monterey Car Week on August 16, it looks rather striking and, more to the point, it is completely bonkers.
There are three different versions and the cheapest option – although we should probably say the "least expensive" – is available with three different types of engine. You can have a a 3.6 L V6 making 285 hp, then there's a 285 hp 3 L diesel and then (and you're going to like this) there's a 6.4 L V8 with 500 hp. This is just the entry level, remember.
If you think that's a bit soft you've got two more options to choose from. You can have the "Tank Military Edition" for a cool $295,000 or you can have the Tank X offered at a reasonable $349,000. The good news is, both versions are powered by the same 6.2 L supercharged V8 found in the Dodge Demon. It produces 1,000 hp and 1,180 Nm of torque.
Outside it looks like something out of a post-apocalypse novel with cuts and angles, but inside you'll find a cockpit that is highly customizable and luxurious. You can choose between several different options for the leather, stitching and of course different colours. There's a 7.9'' touchscreen with Apple CarPlay, Google Maps, Pandora and several other apps you can use on the go.
However, the Tank wants to prove it can talk the talk and walk the walk because it does indeed come with post-apocalypse gizmos, too. In its Military Edition trim, the Tank is equipped with thermal night vision, ballistic and explosive protection, military-grade run-flat tyres, a bulletproof radiator and even a self-sealing fuel tank. It also has sirens, an intercom, EMP protection, first aid kits and, I'm not making this up, gas masks – and a lot more besides.
As a means of transport, the Rezvani Tank is entirely unnecessary. It is fantastically expensive, extremely powerful and equipped with a lot of stuff you probably won't ever use. Do we care? I personally don't. I think it looks tremendous and I want one.
