THIS IS THE WATCH JAMES MAY WEARS
IT IS A HAMILTON PAN-EUROP DAY DATE
You might have noticed him wear this in the Madagascar special, or in a livestream on Drivetribe's youtube channel or in the Alpine A110 review. It is a HAMILTON PAN-EUROP DAY DATE. Anyways, let's talk about this vintage-inspired timepiece.
Let us talk about the company. The Hamilton Watch Company has a rich history in its production of military-style watches for the United States army during WWI and WWII. It was founded in 1892, but as an American firm. They have been a part of the well known Swatch Group since 1974. Their watches also helped to keep the new coast to coast U.S. Airmail service on time. You might have even seen this watch in many famous celebrities wrists, like Elvis Presley, in his musical comedy, ‘Blue Hawaii’. It has also appeared in box office hits ‘Interstellar’ and ‘The Martian'. Hamilton is also known for making the world’s first electrical watch powered by a battery and Pulsar. In 2003, Hamilton moved its headquarters and production facilities to the heart of watchmaking in Biel, Switzerland.
HAMILTON PAN-EUROP DAY DATE
Hamilton brought back the famous Pan Europ in 2011. It was a design based on an original, which debuted in 1971. Although the original Pan Europ was a chronograph, the latest version of the Pan Europ has a date display and a day-of-the-week indicator. the 80 hour power reserve is there to back you up and the day date display ensures you’ll never lose track of time. It also has a 50m water resistance (164ft).
This watch comes with a choice of NATO or leather strap. The NATO strap is elaborately designed, and looks very much at home with the Pan Europ Day-Date. The leather strap honestly doesn't go with the watch's colorful theme.
This watch has a H-30 automatic movement from Hamilton. The three-hand movement with a day-date function, boasts a power reserve up to 80- hours!
The case size is about 42mm and the case material is made up of stainless steel. The lug width is 22mm which open it to a lot of aftermarket strap options. It has an automatic movement and the dial colors come in blue.
WHAT COULD BE BETTER?
• The 50m water resistance is modest. They could improve this.
•The leather strap is not the best, is flimsy and does not match with the watch.
$1,195.00. Pretty costly, but definitely worth the price that your paying.
ALL THE STUFF ABOVE MAKES THIS WATCH A TRUE STANDOUT!
So, what do you think of this watch?
