This Mini Cooper has the same power-to-weight ratio as a Bugatti Veyron
It has 500 horsepower and is rear wheel drive
I'll be honest with you on this one - I don't like Mini Coopers. I hate the new ones and while I do like the old ones, i don't love them. Until now, because Gildred Racing have made the Mini Cooper of my dreams.
It's called ‘Super Cooper Type S’ and it has 500 horsepower thanks to a naturally-aspirated 3.5-litre (originally 3.2-litre) Honda V6. That kind of power in a 'Mini' means that this pocket-rocket can do 0-60mph in under four seconds.
That also means that the ‘Super Cooper Type S has the same power-to-weight ratio as a Bugatti Veyron. Let that sink in.
The engine has forged pistons, connecting rods and a Rotex supercharger. Lovely.
The interior is somewhat modern as it has a 9.7 inch iPad sitting nicely in the center console. Inside you will also find an Alpine stereo, chrome dials and a motorsport-style steering wheel.
Truth be told, if you will turn up in this in a Mini Cooper owner's meet in this then not most people will be able to tell that this 1974 Mini Cooper has FIVE HUNDRED horsepower.
Gildred Racing claim that they will build only 10 of these bonkers Mini Coopers and each will set back its owner $150,000. Ouch.
Oh and before we forget to tell you, this 'Super Cooper S' can do around 34 miles per gallon. Economical.
