Volkswagen has unveiled a fully autonomous electric pod which is the company’s vision for the future of city transport. Dubbed the “One“, its name stems from “One Solution for all”.

It boasts a configurable interior meaning the vehicle can be used in different ways - the vehicle unveiled is supposed to be a taxi.

The One is supposed to boast incredible aerodynamic efficiency, despite its elephant-like proportions. The wheels are completely covered and the body panels are sculpted to allow the One to travel through the air as best as possible. On both the front and rear section of the One are LED light strips which can communicate with other road users via warnings or signals.

On December 31, 2021, VW will display a prototype of the OnePod in the DRIVE.’s “Go.City - The Future of Urban Mobility” exhibition in Berlin.

  • Poo! I smell BS! A weird box we're supposed to happily share with total strangers, that has no wheels. Yup... not going bro happen. Last time I looked, anti-gravity wasn't a 'thing', and banking on it as an integral part of your vision of the future seems, well, premature? VAG has enough real world problems, without inventing new stuff to waste time and money on.
