That's Aventador money!

The days of finding a clean Lamborghini Murcielago for sale are sadly coming to an end. It is hard to find one without high miles, a bad respray, dodgy wheels, or one which has been heavily modified. Completely unmolested ones simply don't crop up all that often, but this one did and it just sold for Aventador money.

This perfect yellow (known as Giallo Orion) example just sold on Bring a Trailer for $400,000 which puts it in the same price bracket as a Lamborghini Aventador SV.

People often say that Italian V12s go perfectly alongside manual gearboxes, and they are not wrong. Lamborghini built a total of 4,099 examples of the Murcielago, very few of which came with a manual 'box. These are more desirable than the 'e-Gear' 'boxes which can be very expensive to replace and don't give you the satisfaction in the same way as the stick shift one does.

This example has just 2,900 miles on the clock, which is nothing for a car of this age (made in 2003), especially when it has 571hp waiting to be unleashed.

Is this the most perfect Lamborghini you have ever seen?

  • Wish I had 400k

  • The Murcielago is much rarer than the Aventador, long term any Murci will be a much better investment. Better looking too.

  • It was an ok supercar. It looks a bit bland for a Lamborghini, performance was ok, handling was ok.

But it didn’t set the world alight.

    The aventador set that right.

Is it worth 400k? Obviously it was to the person who bought it.

If I had the money would I have bought it?

    No, far too overpriced.

Looks nice, but will probably sit under wraps somewhere as an investment

  • Shows that pre-Audi, rarer Lamborghinis will become museum pieces

  • Why is it nobody buys manuals when makers offer them (ex. Giulia, F-Type, 456/575) but they're worth twice as much at auction?
