This race shows the difference between a sports car and a supercar

McLaren vs Alfa Romeo vs Ferrari showdown!

1y ago

Between the McLaren 600LT, Alfa Romeo 4C and Ferrari 488 Pista, there is an intruder, the small 4C, which is not a supercar. These three cars will nevertheless compete in a drag race, which will also demonstrate the significant difference between a supercar and a simple sports car.

Before the F8 Tributo arrives, the 488 Pista remains the flagship car of the prancing-horse manufacturer. It's a pure, hardcore supercar with a V8 engine without any hybridization as the current trend wants. This 4.0L V8 develops 710 hp for a 0 to 62 mph time of 2.8 s and a top speed of 211 mph.

The McLaren 600LT uses a 3.8L V8 engine producing 592 hp. This obvious lack of power compared to the Ferrari can be explained by the fact that the 600LT is in a lower class than the 488 Pista. The latter should logically face a McLaren 720S. As for the Alfa Romeo 4C, it is equipped with a four-cylinder, 1.8-litre engine producing 240 hp.

During the first race, the McLaren was able to hold off the Ferrari before falling behind the Italian. In the second race, the McLaren made a poor start and was overtaken by the Alfa Romeo on the first meters. In the end, it was the Ferrari that dominated its rivals, and that's quite normal, let's not forget that.

  • And now the difference between Supercars and Hypercars: Supercars are made for G-Forces, Hypercars are made for G-Strings 😁

  • Not surprising as you said. Surely you pay for something.

Would there be other areas where the race might be tighter? Tight circuit? Average B-roads?

  • I kinda prefer a sports car over a super car. Idk why tho.
