This rare Hot Wheels car costs more than four new real-life Camaros
Hot Wheels have been the essential play-thing for any petrolhead's childhood. From the funky liveries to the special edition Mario Kart cars - Hot Wheels has been a staple childhood toy.
Usually, you'd be able to buy a basic Hot Wheels assortment from £1.50 but this rare Hot Wheels Camaro is worth an eye watering £76,938 - this is more than four times expensive than a new 2020 real-life Camaro which starts from £19,150.
The 2020 Chevrolet Camaro SS features a new LT1 V8 engine.
How can a simple die-cast car model be worth six-figures? They don't call this car the "Holy Grail of Hot Wheels Collectables” for nothing.
Known as the "America's Toy Scout", Joel Magee the man who found this model states that the car is one of the 16 original Hit Wheels cars manufactured by Mattel. The value increases even more as this was a prototype due to there being a enamel white coat which was used to check for imperfections.
You may think it's strange that the producer let the prototype free but in the past, Hot Wheels have mistakenly sent out prototypes to major retailers and most of them would've been oblivious to the fact that this was worth more than a modern day BMW M3.
It would have been sat in piles of numerous very similar looking Camaros waiting to be picked by an eager child but it was Magee that spotted a different Camaro amongst a pile of other Camaros and Magee also consulted a Hot Wheels expert to confirm the Camaro's extreme uniqueness.
Joel Magee with his lucky catch
Magee states that the Camaro is the third rarest Hot Wheels car ever to exist and is only one of very few left. He says that "The Beach Bomb and the Olds 442 are the only other rare Hot Wheels on the level of the white enamel Hong Kong Camaro.”
Joel Magee, being regarded as "America's Toy Scout" has appeared on the hit TV show Pawn Stars multiple times and places the Camaro as one of the highlights of his collection. He will tour America with the £76k Hot Wheels model - appearing at toy fairs and appraisal events.
