What a beaut. The Mercedes SLR McLaren is one of few cars that has cartoonish proportions, and yet carries it off! This car is one of 25 SLRs and one of 6 SLR Roadsters. Developed by MSO, which we now know as the in house tuners that have created the 600LT, 675LT and 765LT, this was the first model they ever worked on!

This car was originally in Crystal Laurite Silver, with 'Silver Arrow 300 SL' red leather. But the owner went BACK to MSO in 2009 and got the McLaren edition upgrade. This time, the owner gave it a new aero kit, a white paint colour, a sports exhaust and new alloys.

And then, as if the owner couldn't ever be satisfied, he sent it BACK AGAIN just a year later, in 2010! The body was repainted once again, and carbon fibre pieces were added all round. In total, over £100k was spent at MSO!

The car is currently up for sale at auction, with the highest bid currently at £350k! Considering you get all this heritage, such a limited edition, a 617bhp V8 and a convertible almost hypercar, it's incredible the value of these cars hasn't jumped even more. I think the similarity to other Mercedes models may have hurt it slightly!

  • Considering its rarity and meaning behind it, while costing lower than the equivalent 991 GT2 RS or Aventador SVJ, I think this is worth its (rather high) price

    • Exactly! An SLS costs around the same and doesn’t have the same rarity!
