This stunning $250k Ford Mustang GT500 is controversially cool

This resto-mod blends 60s styling with 21st-century tech, but have they gone too far?

This 2011 Ford Mustang GT looks like it came straight from the 60s, thanks to an incredible resto-mod style customisation. Conjuring up memories of the iconic 'Eleanor' Mustang from Gone in 60 seconds, blending 60s styling and 21st-century tech is certainly interesting, but it won't be to everyone's taste.

Designed to resemble a 1967 Mustang Fastback GT500, the styling has been nailed even down to the iconic 'Shelby' badges on the side fenders.

Under the hood has also been updated, with a 5.0l Coyote V8 engine powering this retro-futuristic creation. Power is directed to the rear wheels, with a limited-slip diff helping keep the car on the straight and narrow, along with giving it the ability to lay down awesome burnouts.

While the styling might be reminiscent of the 60s, the tech certainly isn't. LED lighting, cruise control, traction control and heated seats all make this much more usable than a 'real' 60s Mustang, along with the custom interior styling with illuminated 'Mustang' logos on the door cards.

The underside of the car is apparently "pristine" which is unsurprising given the low mileage on the clock, showing just 16,631. The title also remains as a 2011 Ford Mustang, which may prove cheaper to insure than a genuine 60's fastback. With a hefty price of $249,900, it will certainly take a special kind of buyer for this unusual creation, but no doubt it's plenty of fun to drive.
