This Suzuki Swift went to the gym

An extreme concept car based on the Suzuki Swift for the Thailand Motor Expo

This muscular and aggressive concept car is based on the Swift and it has been unveiled by Suzuki at the ongoing Thailand Motor Expo 2019.

Suzuki calls it the Swift Extreme Concept and it's easy to see why.

The Japanese brand decided to buy its small and nippy subcompact car a gym subscription and then brought it to Thailand to showcase the impressive result. At the front, you'll find a new fascia incorporating a black grille, new bespoke air intakes, new air vents on the hood and a new splitter as well. The wheel arches and the spoiler are bigger, and so is the rear bumper which features a new diffuser and square tailpipes.

The concept car comes with tinted windows and Suzuki hasn't released any interior photographs, so that's probably still in the works. Furthermore, they've made no mention of performance or engine upgrades either so for now, this is what we get.

It is a striking concept, definitely designed to draw attention, and I think that's a good thing. Suzuki makes great cars and sometimes I just wish they'd do more for the brand itself. It doesn't have to be anything tacky or over the top, Suzuki gear or attire here, a shiny special edition of one their cars there – that'd do. These things sort of matter in today's world.

As for the this Swift Extreme Concept, all I can say is I hope they're going to build it, and I hope they're going to tune the standard 140-hp 1.4 Boosterjet out of the "standard" Swift Sport and give it 30, 40 or 50 hp more. Whatever, make that 200 more.

    • That damned thing is a joke. If they ever launch a Swift Sport like the old Swift RS it will be a joke. The normal Swift we have with that 1.2 is a decent car but after the Baleno RS, doubt whether Maruti will ever launch anything remotely fast or...

    • I actually do want a Swift RS. Of course an actual 138 bhp Sport would be better but the 100 bhp engine would also work just fine.

  • One of the most underrated cars of the last 15 years and yes they should do it but more than 110 bhp. It'll be a throwback to the old hot hatch days and fun.

  • At 69 it's the first hot hatch Design I think is worth looking at and buying... I hope they let their motorcycle division work some magic on the engine and also make it 4x4.... Best looking car for ages!
