This terrible corner design causes carnage
The commentator takes it a bit too far though...
When you think of the great corners of the world your mind jumps to Eau Rouge or pretty much the entirety of the Monaco circuit.
It will probably not jump to this chicane, or 'shitcane' as I have poorly named it.
It doesn't help the fact that they have entered this, almost, 90Ëš angled corner four abreast. However, the design gives them close to no chance of making it around both corners, as this video will show.
The commentator says that "the guy who designed that corner should be taken into a dark room and beaten." I think that is a tad harsh, but they certainly shouldn't be allowed near a circuit design again.
Watch the madness here:

Erm,, dont blame the track!!!
They are suposed to be racing drivers. It aint the first time they ever went round that corner. If they are all so tupid and want to try and win the race in the first lap, whats going to happen? Yes, they are all going to crash out like the dumb asses they are. This is a demonstration of how not to do it. But to blame the track?? I dont think so. Its a STUPID thing to sugest. Notice how all the drivers who hed back a little got through? They didnt blame the track.
Its a bit like people who call roads Dangerous like the A86 or cat and fiddle pass.... They're harmless till someone drives on them.
Absolutely this! There's nothing that irritates me more than perfectly decent roads roads being described as dangerous. It's the morons that drive on them that are dangerous.
"the guy who designed that first corner should be taken to a dark room and beate...." in a scottish accent is lovely xD
Cant see the issue, Magny Course has even a 160deg bent and proper drivers manage to go around it.
Totally agree, it's the drivers responsibility, to be able to take the first (and the remaining) corners
How is this a bad thing?
Should have more corners like this in formular 1, might actually be interesting then 😂
