This truck comes with built in minibar and BBQ compartment
Summer may seemingly already be coming to a close for 2019 but Black Sheep Innovations is making sure the last weeks of warmth are thoroughly enjoyed. The Swiss company has given us one of the coolest pickup modifications ever.
According to Black Sheep, the one thing lacking in a truck is space to put things. Therefore, it has redesigned the tailgate and taillights of a VW Amarok to feature hidden storage compartments. In fact, the rear end of the German pickup has become a fully functional mini bar perfect for making the most of the last few barbecues in the wilderness.
The rear lights are on rails and can be pulled out revealing a shelf that can be stocked full of drinks. This is something straight out of James Bond as one can just imagine the rear lights popping out making way for a set of machine guns.
When it’s lowered, the tailgate can also be opened up to reveal another set of hidden compartments. These probably don’t lend themselves to being filled with glass bottles, but they could be just the perfect place for keeping food. One can even place a gas burner on it making for the ideal outdoor, mobile kitchen.
In the real world – or Black Sheep Innovations’ real world – the little cubby holes can be used to keep recovery gear and small spare parts when venturing off the beaten track. In fact, BSI is best known for modifying the VW Amarok to make it an off-road weapon. The company’s selection of mods ranges from light bars to full body kits and interior gadgets.
Fording rivers and getting covered in mud isn’t the idea of a perfect day out for everyone. Despite this, I’m sure anyone that owns a pickup would find this simple but effective mod very useful in their day to day lives.
