To make things clear, this isn't a real Ford GT40. This has been built by the guys are Superformance who do all sorts of replica cars from GT40's, Cobra's and even Corvette's. For this build, they've taken one of their GT40 Mk1 kits and gave it the V6 EcoBoost used in various Ford vehicles, which includes the new GT. Superformance call it the Future GT Forty.
Superformance said that the V6 EcoBoost used in this build doesn't come directly from a new GT but it has been modified to similar specs as seen in the $500k supercar. This means that this GT40 replica has about 650bhp and 550lb ft of torque. What makes this different to the new GT is that this car comes with a 5-speed manual gearbox. The exhaust is supplied by Magnaflow and the twin turbochargers have been supplied by Garrett.
Visually, it looks stunning. It's a heavily modernised GT40 MK1 will a new aero kit, LED projector lights at the front, and gorgeous HRE wheels. The livery is inspired by the current Ford GT GTLM race cars used in endurance racing. This particular livery is taken from the #68 car which won its class at Le Mans in 2016. Another addition to this car is the height adjustable air suspension.
The best thing about this is that you can buy one right now. The GT40 in the pictures was commissioned by it's owner, Doug Campbell but you can order your own one if you have at least $180,000. However, if you don't want a V6 powered GT40, Superformance will still build you a GT40 Mk1 replica with either a 4.7 litre V8 or a 7.0 litre V8. You can't go wrong with the V6 or V8 options.
The car is currently at SEMA in Las Vegas and will be there until the 2nd of November.
