Lynk&Co, one of the Chinese giant Geely's brands (including Volvo, Polestar, Lotus, and London Taxis), has released it's version of the Volvo XC40, called the 01. Built alongside the Volvo in Ghent, Belgium, it has been sold in China for a couple of years now, but gets a new front end and interior for the European market. Sales will begin in Sweden and Denmark in 2021, eventually expanding to other countries; the UK will get it in 2022. The 01 will be available only for lease for €500 (£456/$587) and can be made available to other people through the free Lynk&Co app. To borrow the car, app users don't even have to meet the owner--the owner simply sends the user the virtual key, which unlocks and starts the car. Included in the monthly lease fee is insurance, maintenance, tires, and a periodic replacement for the car during servicing, but neither petrol nor parking. Keeping things simple, there is only one trim level, two colors (blue and black), and two powertrains (hybrid and PHEV).
