Thought today I would post a picture of my late friends car. Back in the day I worked for a company called Richardson’s “possibly the worlds longest running motor dealer” and my mate Paul’s dad ran the family business. We branched out (mainly due to Paul) into car tuning. Richardson’s bought 10 Córdoba SX’s from SEAT and turned the, into rally car replicas. This one was Paul’s demonstrator, it originally had the REPSOL rally car graphics but instead of REPSOL it was Richardson’s “speed is just a question of money, how fast do you want to go”. Sadly some dumbass (me) decided to sell his beloved car and then that was it it was gone. Eventually though it found its way back home to Paul. That’s when the fun began as the plan was to replace the 2.0 16v engine for the 20VT sadly during this Paul passed away and never got to see this car finished (hint it still isn’t not for the want of trying). It was decided that Paul’s funeral car would be this car so friends got together to finish is project. A 20VT was sourced and stuck under the bonnet and it was drivable to go to the funeral in. It’s still not fully finished and has a few niggles here and there. One day it will be back to showroom finish with lots of extra oomph and I can’t wait for that to happen and no doubt neither can Paul where ever he may be sat watching and quite possibly laughing. Anyways just thought I would post this after scanning through some photos on my iPad. We made quite a few crazy cars over the years. A metro with a 1.8 VVT engine and a custom rover 200 in lambo orange but this car has a,ways been my favourite mainly because it was Paul’s. Until we meet again mate
