Three Indians among shortlisted riders for 2018 Asia Talent Cup selection event

The organisers of the Asia Talent Cup has released the 127 names shortlisted for the Selection Event for the 2018 season. Among the host of riders confirmed for the event were three Indians, who will fight for a position on the grid to compete in the new season.

The three Indian riders named for the Selection Event are 16-year-old Ann J. A. Sundersingh, 18-year-old Alan Fernando and 19-year-old Varun Sobhan.

The event is scheduled to take place at the Sepang International Circuit during October 24-25, under the watchful eyes of Talent Promotion Director Alberto Puig.

The registration will take place on October 24. The riders will then get to demonstrate their skills and ability while riding a Honda bike at the Sepang Karting Circuit on October 25 - after which the selection committee will meet again to put out the final list of riders for the 2018 season.

Along with the Indians, the list has riders from Australia (11), Bangladesh (1), China (5), Indonesia (30), Israel (1), Iran (1), Japan (26), Malaysia (30), Nepal (1), New Zealand (2), Philippines (2), Qatar (2), Singapore (1), Sri Lanka (2), Thailand (6), Turkey (2) and Vietnam (1).

The Asia Talent Cup has seen Indian presence through Ahamed Yaseen in 2016, while Rajiv Sethu only made it to the reserve list for this year's season.
