A new Gran Turismo game usually isn't complete without an officially branded wheel, and today Thrustmaster has revealed their plans for said wheel controller. Introducing the Thrustmaster T-GT, the result of four years of development between Thrustmaster and Gran Turismo.

Before we go any further, let me reiterate that is a high-end wheel...a very high-end wheel. For those looking for an $80 wheel and pedal set that you can buy at Target, this is not for you. There are any number of USB wheel/pedal sets that you can buy that will steer your virtual car.

What the T-GT offers (and what any other high-end sim wheel offers) is a simulation of actual driving conditions. This wheel comes powered by a T-40VE brushless motor that produces accurate force feedback and torque consistently.

Some might be wondering "Brushless motor? Torque? Force feedback?" All this is a fancy way to say you will feel what your car is doing through the wheel. This goes beyond simple vibration; your wheel will replicate bumps in the road, tire grip, and traction. The brushless motor helps with that, hopefully offering gamers the closest thing to road feel without actually being there inside a real car.

The T-GT is wrapped in genuine leather and features four rotary selector dials (for adjusting features like traction control) and two customizable mini-sticks. On top of the standard force feedback, the T-GT will also feature T-DFD (Depth Feedback).

T-DFB will process information in the range of 30Hz to 100Hz into the wheel; information which standard motorized force feedback cannot process. This is a T-GT exclusive feature that should make this the most realistic sim experience to touch your hands.

The Thrustmaster T-GT currently has no release date and will retail for $799.99. I should point out that the judging by the pedals, there will be a functional clutch, but there does not appear to be a shifter included, so those who like to go manual, expect to shell out an additional fee for a compatible shifter.
