Tim Cook speaks on the heavily rumoured Apple Car
Codenamed 'Project Titan', the car is expected to be unveiled in 2024
We've known for quite some time that Apple is working on a vehicle and after failing to find an agreement with Hyundai and Kia, the tech giant is reportedly working on a deal with LG and Magna, a Canadian tech/auto company that's also working on the new Fisker Ocean (below). In a recent episode of Kara Swisher's Sway podcast for the New York Times, Apple CEO Tim Cook finally addressed the persistent rumours about the upcoming electric car.
Cook said Apple is prioritizing autonomy. "The autonomy itself is a core technology, in my view," Cook said. "If you sort of step back, the car, in a lot of ways, is a robot. An autonomous car is a robot. And so there's lots of things you can do with autonomy. And we'll see what Apple does."
"We love to integrate hardware, software and services, and find the intersection points of those because we think that's where the magic occurs," he added.
Apple's first car - codenamed Project Titan - is expected to be unveiled in 2024 at the earliest and Apple knows Tesla will be the main rival and competitor. "I've never spoken to Elon, although I have great admiration and respect for the company he's built," said Cook. "I think Tesla has done an unbelievable job of not only establishing the lead, but keeping the lead for such a long period of time in the EV space. So I have great appreciation for them."

they're going to do it the Apple way. First they're going to remove the steering wheel because "no steering wheel is better", then they'll remove the wheels because "no wheels is better", and if you dare suggesting to add the AUX port in the...
Read more... in other words, they haven't actually got one, just a CGI rendering of some bloke's wet dream. They tried and failed first of all. Cars are not telephones FFS. They've been doing the rounds to see which sucker wants to build them an 'iCar', presumably something on an existing platform that can be flogged at a stinking great premium, to match the price of their telephones? Don't hold your breath.
