Time-Warp 1,900 Mile DeLorean DMC-12 Just Listed on Bring a Trailer
This DeLorean looks like it's driven straight out of the Eighties
The DeLorean DMC-12 may not have been the best car to drive in the real world, but its starring role in Back to the Future means it's firmly ingrained into the minds of countless movie fans across the globe. It's very fitting, then, that this DeLorean just went live on Bring a Trailer in time-warp condition. The most impressive part? It has just 1,900 miles on the odometer.
It's been owned by the current seller for the past 31 years, and in that time they've only driven the DMC-12 a total of 500 miles. The car was stored in 1995 and stayed in storage until 2019, when it underwent a complete mechanical refurbishment.
After restoration, it qualified for a spot at the 2021 Concours d’Elegance of America in Plymouth, Michigan. The car comes listed with its original purchase documents, manufacturer's handbook and service records detailing all of its recent restoration work.
There's a few small things about the car that aren't stock: for example, it originally came with a fender-mounted antenna, but that was later removed by the owner. There's also an aftermarket cruise control system that was installed by the dealership when it was first purchased. But, other than that, this is a car that's exactly the same as it was when it rolled off the production line in 1981.
Given the prices that low mileage cars tend to attract at auctions like this, it's likely that the DeLorean will be subject to a fierce bidding war. It'll almost certainly sell for multiple times more than its original list price of $26,825. At the time of writing though, the auction has only been live for a few hours and the highest bid sits at a very appropriate $1,985. Genuinely would be my first purchase post-lottery win. I know they're crap, don't care 😁 + anyone else think these are perfect candidates for EV conversion? 🤔
