Title battle thrown into chaos after Lewis Hamilton first lap puncture in Mexico
The championship leader had to limp round to the pits after the opening lap drama
The fight for the Formula 1 World Championship took a huge twist in the first lap of the Mexican Grand Prix.
As pole man Sebastian Vettel got off the line at the start, Max Verstappen and Lewis Hamilton . - second and third on the grid respectively - fought with Vettel for the lead.
But as the three drivers hustled around the first few corners, Verstappen stormed into the lead, but Hamilton's race was immediately thrown into chaos when he picked up a puncture after contact with Vettel.
But the first lap drama wasn't over there - as a result of the contact, Vettel himself had to pit for a new nose for his Ferrari.
That left Hamilton dead last - and Vettel second last, although the Ferrari man is already making his way back through the field.
The stewards immediately announced they were investigating the incident between Hamilton and Vettel, though shortly after that they confirmed no action would be taken.
Hamilton needs to finish fifth to guarantee the title - but if both he and Vettel fail to score, Hamilton will take the title.
