Today has been all about this for me .... Old Skool ... and yes, I actually said that. Saw one of these pull up in a petrol station when I was a much younger guy riding a crappy old GP100 along with his equally low-rent mates on similarly crappy little bikes. The Big Gixer was the coolest thing in the world back then: A last crazy, over-the-top roar from the bike world before new constraints on capacity and power came in. A creaky old guy got off the one I saw all those years ago and we were amazed. Yes, I probably am that old guy now. What he didn’t tell us - or know, back then - is that the bike’s pretty bad in many ways: The front wheel’s too small, the suspension too lazy but the engine was and is a masterpiece that has inspired a million specials. Spent the day on, off and near it and loved every second.

  • I had a Gsxr750j and hankered for years after a Gsxr1100.... until one day it happened .. i had the cash and i year old Gixer 1100 L arrived at my local dealer.... i took it out with heart pounding .. got to the first decent bend ... and ohh my god .. it was awfull!!! Long story short .. i ended up with a zx10b .... moral ... dont drive your dream .. its nearly always dissapointing ! 😉

  • 1986 - start of production and sales of Suzuki GSX-R 1100. The first generation motorcycle.

    1989-the motorcycle gets an aluminum frame instead of steel and a little more modern appearance.

    1990 - model Suzuki GSX-R 1100 gets an inverted type Showa fork, a new rear shock absorber, an extended wheelbase and a new dimension of tires. All these changes were designed to improve handling and increase the stability of the motorcycle at high speeds.

    1993 - the second generation Suzuki GSX-R 1100. The motorcycle gets a new liquid-cooled engine that produces 155 HP of power and 115 Nm of torque against 143 HP and 112 Nm, which gave the old air motor.

    1998 - model Suzuki GSX-R 1100 officially removed from production and is no longer sold.
