Tomica 1:60 Honda Element

The ever versatile Element as a fantastic diecast car.

Here in the green mountain state of Vermont the population adores their Subarus. In fact the state bird really should just be changed to the Subaru Outback. But, every once and a while... an automaker will tick all the right boxes for Vermonter's quirky automotive hearts and Honda did just that.

Despite a paltry production total of 325,000 units from 2003 to 2011, the Element is quite a common sight on Vermont roads. These boxy, plastic reinforced, do-everything rigs could be equipped with an AWD system which was/is perfect for the winter driving 3 months a year. The nicely-sealed, adjustable interior is ideal for transporting potted plants, watermelons, small cows, children, groceries, you name it.

I've been on the lookout for a Tomica Element for a while now and not really keen on the $40-$50 price tag they usually carry on eBay. Needless to say when I found this at a toy show last weekend for a super reasonable $8.00 it was the easiest purchase of the trip. <3 I am very happy to have this in my collection now.

Tomica, as always, has amazing build quality and details. The Orange paint is stellar and sparkles under direct light. The flat tones along the sides and panels are a perfect representation of the plastic armor this rig has in 1:1 scale. If you look closely there's even a little indentation for the hatch handle. Just perfect details everywhere. Which is why I adore collecting Tomica Diecast cars. <3

  • My Element was great! A rolling brick. I wish Honda would bring it back.

  • I’ve always loved the boxy utilitarian look of these things.

  • This must be one of the lowest selling scale models, along with a Beige/Sand/Taupe Camry and a White Corolla.
