Top 10 4-Door Coupés Of 2018
Despite being a new segment, it is now quite popular and with many cars to choose from. I've narrowed it down for you.
Sexy, stylish and practical? Yup its now possible to but all that in just one car! Popularity of 4-Door Coupés increased ever since its introduction more than a decade ago with the Mercedes-Benz CLS, so popular that all the top German manufacturers have at least one 4-door coupé model in their line up. The recipe is quite simple, a raked roof, blacked out B-pillars and bigger haunches. To me some of these 4-door coupé look as good or even better than their 2-door variants, and here are my top 10 picks for best 4-door coupés.
10. Tesla Model S

Whether it's the sporty performance or the sleek design, the Model S falls into this category. It lacks the aggressive, sharp lines though, hence, it seems odd to be called a coupé. The interior of the tesla is clean, just a few buttons and a large screen from which you can control the several features of the car. Despite the its tame looks, it is a hefty performer with plenty of punch thanks to the electric motors with the most powerful variant, the P100D, producing up to 762 hp when in "Ludicrous" mode.
9. Audi A5/S5 Sportback
The Audi A5 just about made it on this list, to be honest, it lacks the peacock factor of a typical 2-door coupé. It looks basic with just a sloping roofline, frameless windows and a car sits lower and wider than a normal saloon. However, the Audi A5 Sportback shines when it comes to practicality and spaciousness. In fact the A5 is 5-door hatch so you do get a lot of boot space and a power tailgate comes as standard. The interior too is quiet spacious, with plenty of room up front, but in the back, defying all expectations the sloping roofline doesn't comprise the rear head room as much, except for the middle seat which impossible for you to utilize unless you've had you head and legs chopped off.
8. BMW 4 Series Gran Coupé

Personally, I am not a fan of BMW, but the 4 Series Gran Coupé deserves a mention. It has been a strong seller in its segment. It seems to be a sensible choice for someone looking for a practical coupé, its got a reasonable price tag, its as practical as the A5 and its got a better emblem than the Arteon's. It's the best well rounder!
7. Volkswagen Arteon
The gorgeous VW CC replacement, the Arteon, comfortably made it on this list. It was a no brainer as it ticks all the boxes. It looks cool, sporty and it's definetly a worthy successor to the VW CC that as far as I'm concerned was the best looking VW ever made. The new VW face gives the Arteon a menacing look, and the roofline is just slightly bent down towards the back fearing that it would affect the comfort onboard. This definitely stands out in the VW model range.
6. BMW 6 Series Gran Coupé

The BMW 6 Series Gran Coupé is one of the oldest cars on this list, its been around for about 6 years now, yet miraculously it's up here with my favorite coupés. This proves that the the 6 Series was way ahead of its time when it came out. Especially when it comes to the looks, it doesn't look like its been designed half a decade ago, it still looks modern. Nevertheless, BMW are working on a replacement model, presumably an 8 Series Gran Coupé, and it's something to look forward to.
5. Aston Martin Rapide

Old, yet pretty is how I'd caption this image. The Aston Martin Rapide is a piece of art, it's majestic in every way. The smooth curves and huge haunches are the basis on which this beast had been designed. On the downside though, it was designed to look good and drive well only. As a result don't expect it to be as practical as the 6 Series or the much smaller Arteon. It isn't a car you take the kids to school in partly because to costs $200,000 and partly cause it was not designed for that. Whats faultless though is the shouty V12 producing a healthy 470 hp.
4. Mercedes CLS

Many argue (including me) that the new Mercedes CLS isn't as pretty as to should have been, but it's still good enough for fifth on this list. The old CLS was known for its villainous looks and still had enough classiness to be a Mercedes, and that is all we hoped this CLS would be. However, dady's disappointment is now all about the clean looks and sensible stying, which isn't what most CLS fans were looking for. Fortunately, the interior is smart and cosy. The instrument cluster is integrated to the central display screen making the screens look bigger and giving a techy look to the dashboard. Engines are impressive too, with an inline six, three litre turbo charged mild hybrid producing 362 hp. If thats doesn't sound impressive enough, then the CLS 53 is the right CLS for you, producing 430 hp from the same inline six.
3. Audi A7 Sportback

With the success of the first gen Audi A7 and its sportier variants, Audi was keen on making this second gen car as exciting as possible. Design wise, they have, the new A7 is sharper and more aggressive than the old one. It has the new Audi design features like the new large grille and the "Quattro blisters" that emphasizes the car's athletic side. The Interior of the A7 resembles an interior of a futuristic rocket ship with three large screens around the driver, that are surrounded by the modernistic touch of the brushed aluminium. Quality and comfort definitely aren't an issue cause the badge says it all. More powerful variants are yet to come, and from the spy shots, they look savage, so keep your eyes opened!
2. Porsche Panamera

In the simplest of terms, the Porsche Panamera is a stretched up 911 for a family of four. Like the 911 the Panamera is an impressive performer, a sports car with no compromise. With 330 hp available with rear-wheel-drive or all-wheel-drive, the Porsche Panamera will offer you optimum performance and driving pleasure. Want more driving pleasure? Porsche has that sorted out for you with the top of the range Panamera Turbo S E-Hybrid that produces 680 hp with electrical assist. The interior is neat and simple, yet luxurious and well built. If I had to buy a 4-door coupe, I'd most probably buy the Panamera.
1. Mercedes-Benz AMG GT
Credit: Autofluence
From a concept car straight to production, The AMG GT is the ultimate 4-door performance coupé. Design wise, I think its ugly from its piggy nose all the way to its bland rear end. To me its the worst exterior on the list, yet it still came fist and that explains how good this car is in every other department. Since this is one of the, if not the best performer, lets start with the engine. Powering this monster is a 4.0-litre AMG V8 producing 630 hp sent to all four wheels to offer a thrilling driving experience. Furthermore, the interior of the GT is nearly identical to that of the CLS but with a slightly different centre console altogether inhances the sporty feel of the car. The sheer performance of the GT is the winner today!

That is gorgeous! I love the Audi Sport decals!
Audi designer Walter de Silva says that he is most proud over the A5/S5 car over all the cars he has designed.
The A5 is a brilliant looking car. It was a bit of a departure from the traditional Audi styling when it came out. To this date it really stands out.
