Toyota to begin reproducing parts for A70 and A80 Supra
Toyota has announced that it will begin reproducing spare parts for A70 and A80 Supra models through its newly-created GR Heritage Parts Project, with the announcement coming just ahead of these new parts going on display at Tokyo Auto Salon 2020 in Chiba City from January 10-12.
Aimed at making life easier "for customers who have loved Supra for many years [who wish to] continue driving them into the future," this new initiative, which mirrors those such as Nismo reproducing parts for Skyline GT-R models, will be selling these components branded as genuine parts, which will be important for those with collector-spec cars hoping to achieve the highest value for them – important, given A80 Supra values have been going through the roof since the launch of the new BMW-derived A90 model.
These parts are also set to be sold both directly to customers and from Toyota dealers as would be the case with normal genuine parts.
Currently, components planned to go on sale include items such as the prop shaft, weather strips, fuel sender gauge, and front emblems for the A70, headlights and brake booster for the A80, and door handles for both.
Additionally, Toyota is open to feedback from owners as to what other components they would like to see reproduced for their cars, which will inform what parts the company decides to reissue in future, with such requests able to be submitted via the Gazoo Racing website.
Although set dates for when the mentioned components will enter production are yet to be confirmed, plans are in place for production to begin this year, although retail sales may not commence until 2021.
