Roughly two decades on from the 911 Carrera 2.7 RS and 3.0 RS, the 964 RS revived the iconic two letter Rennsport moniker. In full ‘Lightweight’ trim it did without air conditioning, a radio, electric windows and rear seats, instead getting larger brakes, track-focused suspension and a more powerful version of the Carrera 2’s 3.6-litre flat six.

The release of such an uncompromising model couldn’t have been better timed, with track days experiencing a surge in popularity in the early 1990s.
