Trackday maverick wipes out novice rider

Seriously, calm the hell down

2020 trackdays got off to a slow start because of the 'C' word, so it looks like customers are a little too eager to go out and set lap records.

Apart from the handful of fatalities we've already seen so far this year, there have been some seriously shocking incidents, like the lady stopping on the racing line at Donington park for instance.

Because of the huge influx of bookings, trackday organisers seem to be allowing fast riders in slow groups, and slow riders in fast groups just to make space. This, in my opinion, is the main reason behind the carnage so far this year. The move by the overtaking bike was ludicrous and anyone should have the right to ride around in the novice group at a steady pace without being shunted off like this.

  • What a douche.

  • Shouldn't allow experienced track riders to go out with relatively inexperienced riders. All riders must be aware that not everyone will be as experienced as they are. This overtake was plain stupid. It's a track day, not a race! All participants have the right to expect to enjoy the day at their own pace and expect others to ride appropriately.

    • The overtaking biker was the inexperienced / incompetent rider here.

    • Not according to the article. The overtaking biker was the incompetent one and wiped out the novice.

  • Pairing riders of similar pace and experience is the single biggest factor in track day safety and it shows

  • He should be flogged, or something. You don't do that in a slow group.
