Travis Pastrana & Robbie Durant 2nd at Rally of the tall pines

Based in Bancroft, Ontario, the rally was round 6 of 7 in the Canadian Rally Championship Series. Needless to say, the duo charged hard, and despite 5 stage wins, they were unable to keep pace with points leader and Subaru of Canada driver Antonine L’Estage and Darren Garrod. A different strategy for tire selection cost Pastrana & Durant around 20 seconds on the first stage, and Antoine maintained the lead for the remainder of the event. Pastrana and Durant also encountered a flat tire about 6 miles from the end of an extremely narrow stage section. With no safe place to pull over, and a manageable distance to the stage finish they continued at a reduced pace.

“We were in the air more than we were on the ground!”

Travis Pastrana

Pastrana and Durant sail over one of the many jumps during the Rally of the Tall Pines in Bancroft, ON, Canada.

The roads at the Tall Pines event are twisty and fast with some stages having almost continuous jumps.

Add to this a snow and ice covered surface and it gets interesting real fast! Robbie Durant described one of the Hastings stages as “Jump, Jump, Jump, Ice." For a practice event with limited knowledge of the roads and conditions SRTUSA #199 with Travis Pastrana and Robbie Durant did an excellent job. The conditions were treacherous and to bring it back on the podium in second place was a perfect ending to a great weekend. Thanks to all the Canadian rally fans for cheering us on! We hope to be back soon.
